Community involvement
Our school values strong partnerships with our families and community. Parents and carers can get involved through our Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) or by volunteering at our school. Your time and support help make our school a better place for everyone.
Parents and Citizens Association (P&C)
Our P&C is a group of parents/carers, teachers and community members focused on supporting the learning and well-being of our students at Mullumbimby Public School.
Together we contribute to:
· Decisions about student welfare and curriculum
· School improvements through fundraising activities and grant applications
· Social events.
How can I get involved with the P&C?
P&C members are all volunteers and everyone is welcome to join or be involved in whatever way you can.
Ways to be involved include:
· Become an official member
· Join our P&C 'friends' list as a volunteer by emailing mullumbimbypandc@gmail.com
· Volunteering your time in the canteen, helping with stalls and supporting our fundraisers.
How can I find out what's happening?
Find out about upcoming events, fundraising and how you can get involved by:
· Reading the school newsletter – delivered every week via the SchoolStream app and available each week on the school website.
· Join your class WhatsApp chat – we share reminders abut upcoming school events, volunteering opportunities and messages from your teacher. Ask your child's teacher how to join!
· Follow the P&C Facebook page
· Join our P&C 'friends' list as a volunteer by emailing mullumbimbypandc@gmail.com
P&C Meetings
Everyone is welcome to our General Meetings, which are held in the library each term on:
· Week 3 - Wednesday, 6.30pm
· Week 8 - Wednesday, 6.30pm
The agenda is available in the school newsletter the Monday before each meeting.
Membership costs $1 and entitles you to voting privileges.
Come along and contribute to discussions, general business and ideas.
Volunteer at school
In addition to helping out with P&C events, canteen and uniform shop, helping out in your child's classroom is a great way to get involved in your school community.
Volunteer opportunities differ for each class and may include:
- listening to children read in the classroom
- helping supervise excursions
- helping with activities on special days, such as Environment Day or NAIDOC Day
- volunteering on sports days and other school events.
For opportunities to get involved, keep an eye on the school Newsletter and speak to your child's classroom teacher.
